What is pilgrimage? A pilgrimage is a ritual journey with a hallowed purpose. Every step along the way has meaning. The pilgrim knows that life giving challenges will emerge. A pilgrimage is not a vacation; it is a transformational journey during which significant change takes place. New insights are given. Deeper understanding is attained. New and old places in the heart are visited. Blessings are received and healing takes place. On return from the pilgrimage, life is seen with different eyes. Journey An affirmation that our life is a journey both inside and out. Outer action - Inner meaning Through the exploration of outer landscapes we uncover deep and soulful inner meanings. With intention the outer action of our journey can be filled with inner meaning. What is unique about an Illuminated Journey's pilgrimage to Ireland? You are invited to join us not as a tourist, but as a pilgrim. Along the way you will be encouraged to approach each experience with contemplative awareness and each sacred site with care. Time will be given for learning, integration, meditation and interaction. As we journey together, we will focus on major themes in the Celtic Spiritual tradition. Time will be spent exploring how those themes can be integrated into our lives. Optional meditative sessions will include such things as the music of the Taize community, Mandala work, journaling, small group interaction, discussions with our leaders, Irish music and prayer. Because registration is limited, group size will encourage personal interaction in style and content. When we are joined by local Celtic specialists, mythologist, artisans, musicians and storytellers to share experiences and offer guidance to us, there will be opportunities for interaction. We are confident that your journey will be a fulfilling one. We have gone before you, having traveled to Ireland many times to meet with those who will join us as we go. We have visited the sites on our schedule, and have personally chosen the retreat centers, accommodations and meals. You are assured of a complete and well planned journey. This tour is designed to give you an overview of the Celtic tradition by exposing you to the most profound examples of each of the themes and providing time to reflect on those themes, places, and people.
